Understanding Outpatient Care

Outpatient treatment delivers professional services on a regular schedule—days or evenings—while you live at home. It’s effective for many with mild–moderate substance use disorders, for step-down after inpatient care, or for anyone needing structure and support.

Flexibility

Maintain work, school, and family responsibilities.

Accessibility

Lower cost than residential care; local options.

Continuity

Practice new skills in real-life settings between sessions.

Support

Build recovery while staying connected to home & community.

Types of Outpatient Programs

Standard Outpatient

Weekly individual or group therapy; education on relapse prevention and coping. Best for lower relapse risk with strong supports.

Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

3–5 sessions per week for several hours. Blends groups, individual counseling, & skills practice—high structure without 24/7 care.

Partial Hospitalization (PHP)

Daytime treatment up to 5 days/week; home each evening. Medical monitoring & psychiatric support; common step-down after inpatient.

Integrated Mental Health & MAT

Dual-Diagnosis Care

We prioritize programs that treat substance use and mental health together (depression, anxiety, trauma) with licensed therapists and psychiatry.

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)

Referrals to providers offering buprenorphine/Suboxone, methadone, and naltrexone/Vivitrol—combined with counseling for best outcomes.
