Who We Are
R.E.A.C.H.—Real Educational Answers for Community Hope is an old idea reborn as a new nonprofit organization serving Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. For years, residents dreamed of a place where education, mental health support, and practical resources could operate side by side. Today that vision is a reality. R.E.A.C.H. is formally organized, fully staffed, and ready to deliver the services our community has long needed.
Our Purpose
R.E.A.C.H. exists to remove barriers that prevent people from building stable, fulfilling lives. We focus on three interconnected areas:
Education & Workforce Development
GED preparation, literacy classes, and career-track training that lead directly to higher education or employment.
Mental Health & Recovery
Outpatient counseling, peer mentorship, and connections to inpatient treatment for individuals and families.
Community Support
Clothing drives, health fairs, and resource events that meet immediate needs while connecting residents to long-term solutions.
By uniting these services under one roof, we provide a single, welcoming entry point where residents can receive coordinated support instead of navigating multiple agencies alone.
Our Commitment From Today Forward
As a new nonprofit with deep community roots, R.E.A.C.H. pledges to:
- Guarantee 24/7 Crisis Access through partnerships with the Luzerne County Crisis Line and the National 988 Lifeline. (Emergency Help)
- Expand Education Opportunities by doubling GED enrollment within five years and adding new career certifications annually.
- Grow Mental Health Capacity by increasing counseling sessions and peer-mentor availability every year.
- Strengthen Youth and Families through a Youth Leadership Academy, after-school tutoring, and parent education programs.
- Build Community Connections by hosting quarterly resource fairs and expanding multilingual outreach.
- Ensure Equity and Accessibility with ADA-compliant facilities, bilingual services, and annual diversity training for all staff. (Accessibility)
- Maintain Transparency through public impact dashboards and annual financial reports. (Accountability)
These commitments are not distant aspirations—they are current directives guiding every decision and partnership.
Why It Matters
Addiction, untreated mental health concerns, and limited access to education remain significant challenges in Luzerne County. Families often face several of these issues at once, making it difficult to find lasting solutions.
R.E.A.C.H. addresses the whole person by combining education, counseling, and practical support in a single, coordinated approach. This model reduces delays, lowers costs, and helps residents move from crisis to stability more efficiently.
Your Role in the Mission
R.E.A.C.H. is built on the belief that community change requires community participation. You can help shape our impact by:
- Volunteering as a tutor, mentor, or event helper.
- Partnering to provide internships, host resource fairs, or share referral networks.
- Donating to sustain and expand programs that bring real educational answers and lasting hope.
Looking Ahead
Our name—Real Educational Answers for Community Hope—is both a promise and a plan. As a new nonprofit, we start with a clear mission, measurable goals, and a commitment to adapt as community needs evolve. Every GED earned, every counseling session completed, and every family connected to resources moves Luzerne County closer to a future where opportunity and support are within reach for all.
R.E.A.C.H. is more than a new organization; it is a long-awaited idea finally brought to life. Join us as we turn this vision into measurable, lasting impact.
